The concepts behind Macro Concealment is surprisingly simple. The camo contains only two patterns, a large macro pattern and a much smaller micro pattern. The micro helps to contrast the main colors and break up the large shapes in the pattern at close range. At longer ranges the micro blends into the macro pattern. The advantage to the micro pattern is the perceived pattern integrity at when viewed at longer ranges.
Many common camouflage patterns only have a small pattern(s) within them. At greater viewing distances the human eye cannot see these micro patterns and all that is apparent is the patterns primary color, often making them appear to be a single color instead of many. The larger pixels within the pattern maintains its perceived pattern integrity out to great viewing distances.
